AKAS II -
FAQs and Facts and Fax |
|
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH PUBLICATIONS I SHOULD ORDER FIRST?
This largely depends on how organized you are and on whether you consider
yourself a hobbyist or a professional.
If you are just starting out in the art world, the
General Tax Guide will
explain some of the various taxes for which you might be liable - even as a hobbyist!
Most professional artists are sole proprietors, and a
Schedule C Kit can be quite helpful.
If you need some help organizing your personal and business
records, a
Recordkeeping Kit or
Personal Organizer
is highly recommended.
Performers and writers may want to check out the
2002 Tax Guide for Performing and Literary Artists .

| WHAT IS THE FASTEST
WAY OF HAVING MY ORDER PROCESSED?
The quickest way to
your TaxKits is making your purchases online through
PayPal - the fast, free, and secure online payment center.
Once your payment is authorized, AKAS II is immediately notified about your order
via email.
Orders are generally processed
within 24 hours and should be received by the customer within seven business days.
Please note that, effective June 1, 2001, AKAS II will no longer accept credit cards except
through the PayPal system. This online method
is faster and more secure for the cardholder than sending the data to AKAS II
directly. As an added advantantage, PayPal
can also process orders paid from a personal or business checking account.
Of course, checks and
money orders are still accepted when mailed directly to AKAS II. Just print out and complete your
order form or
AnswerGram form
and mail with your payment to AKAS II,
PO Box 123, Hot Springs, AR 71902-0123. Please allow three weeks for
standard delivery.
All orders are shipped First Class
Mail unless Priority Mail
is requested. The fee for Priority Mail
is waived on all orders in which any version of a
Recordkeeping Kit/Personal Organizer is included.

| ISN'T THE SAME
INFORMATION WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE AKAS II TaxKits ALREADY AVAILABLE
FOR FREE FROM THE IRS?
Yes and no.
First of all,
the Tax Code is so ridiculously large that no one can be an expert on
all of it - not even the members of Congress who wrote the federal tax laws!
Although
IRS Forms and Publications
are certainly helpful, they may not answer your fundamental
questions in a simple and straightforward manner. And, whether right or wrong, the advice given by tax agents
over the phone or in person is not binding. Written opinions from
the IRS are binding but may be quite expensive.
AKAS II Publications and Services are targeted to the needs of home-based businesses and
professionals, especially those individuals working in the
arts. The easy-to-use tax guides and
recordkeeping kits are concisely written so that time isn't wasted
reading rules that are suitable for large corporations such as IBM and GM.
This method of do-it-yourself can save you time and money!
|
| DOES AKAS II
RECEIVE ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, NON-PROFIT GROUPS OR FOUNDATIONS?
No. Nor does AKAS II
receive monetary subsidies or compensation in-kind from private enterprise.
|
| IF I ALREADY HAVE AN
ACCOUNTANT OR USE A TAX SOFTWARE TO PREPARE MY TAXES, WHY WOULD I
NEED ANY OF THESE PUBLICATIONS FROM AKAS II?
Whether you use the
services of an accountant or a CPA, a tax preparer or a tax attorney
- even if you use checkwriting and tax preparation computer software
- AKAS II's QUICK-FIX TaxKits
can simplify the task of your
requisite tax filings, thus reducing the cost of tax preparation.
And it probably will lower
your taxes! |
| DOES AKAS II GIVE
LEGAL OR TAX ADVICE?
No, AKAS II does not
provide legal or tax advice. However, each and every guideline
suggested in the tax manuals can be readily supported by current tax codes, revenue
rulings and court cases. Business consultations are available for
a nominal fee through the AnswerGram
program.
All publications and
services of AKAS II are designed to contain accurate and
authoritative information in regard to the subject matter covered,
but they are sold with the understanding that its author and
publisher are not engaged in rendering legal, accounting, or other
professional services. If any legal advice or other expert
assistance is required, the services of a competent professional
person should be sought. While every effort has been made to provide
accurate information, neither the author nor the publisher can be
held liable for any errors or omissions. The publisher does not
guarantee or warrant that the readers who use the information
